ADTA's Awards programme aims to encourage and develop the sport of adventure racing by helping teams to pursue their racing careers internationally; thus this incredible opportunity to compete in the Abu Dhabi Adventure Challenge. There's only one entry exclusion; team members may not have competed in an overseas adventure race before.
I have posted an APPLICATION FORM on www.ar.co.za. Complete the form and return to me by Monday, 21 July 2008.
Visit the Abu Dhabi Adventure Challenge website at www.abudhabi-adventure.com
This adventure would not be possible without the generosity and consideration of Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority, Abu Dhabi Adventure Challenge and Saga Events. Our South African team will proudly participate in this exciting event. Thank you.

Wow! Wish I lived in South Africa so I could apply! :) What a great way to put a team together and go to the race, which received very high marks from teams in 2007. Should be fun and good luck! :)
*grin* A number of South Africans are wishing they hadn't raced overseas so they could have had a shot at this race...
Yes Kraig, selecting a mix-match team is very exciting. We've got so many talented people here that I'm sure deciding on the final three is going to be tough.
Would love to apply, and although I can run, kayak and mountain bike....I have never done an adventure race :(
And if you ever want to get a fabulous canine running mate...consider getting a Weimaraner - lovely dogs.
O yes....what is a compass?
Thanks for the endorsement on Weimaraners. I've always liked them and when I'm ready to commit to a dog they're one breed I'll definitely look at. Long legs, short hair and slinky bodies.
Applications don't have to have done an adventure race but some kind of distance/endurance experience in any of the single disciplines helps. Lisa
That is good news...my applicaiton is definitely on its way.
Hey Lisa,
I often pop in to have a look at your blog ... always nice to see whats happening back home in the AR community, & it always makes for some interesting reading!I haven't popped in for a few weeks, so you can imagine my surprise when I came across this blog!!! I am now living & working in Abu Dhabi, in fact where I live out in the Empty Quarter in the desert was one of the transitions for last years race! It will be great to see a team from SA racing here. Drop me a mail if there's anything you need to know! Mark Joyce mjoyce@alec.ae
